Snohomish Business Survey

Calling all Snohomish business leaders!

The City of Snohomish wants your input on our Comprehensive Plan! Your business may have recently received a postcard with a QR code and link to the Snohomish Business Survey. You can take the survey here: www.tinyurl.com/SnohomishBusiness. Your responses will be used to help draft the goals and policies of the economic development element of the Comprehensive Plan.

While the City has surveyed the community more broadly, this is the first survey specific to businesses. This is your chance to have your voice heard as the community looks to the future! How can the City foster a business-friendly environment and ensure a high quality of life? Share your thoughts by taking the survey by Saturday, December 2.

The Snohomish Business Survey is a collaboration between the City of Snohomish and the University of Washington. If you have any questions or experience any technical difficulties, please email rringer@uw.edu for assistance. Individual respondents will not be identified in the final survey report, but you can include your contact information if you would like to be entered into the gift card drawing (as a token of appreciation for your time, courtesy of UW). The survey should take about 5 minutes to complete.

What is the Comprehensive Plan?

Comprehensive planning is required by Washington’s Growth Management Act. The City’s Comprehensive Plan is being updated in 2024 and seeks to guide development through 2044. The plan must be updated every 8-10 years.

Economic development is one of the required elements of the Comprehensive Plan. The current plan includes the following goals, which will be reviewed and revised as necessary during the 2024 update:

  1. Increase the employment base, industrial diversity, and range of goods and services available in Snohomish to achieve economic stability.
  2. Balance the costs and community benefits of regulations that affect economic development.
  3. Foster a high quality of life in the city to attract and retain economic activity.
  4. Use public resources efficiently to leverage economic development.

What is the Snohomish Business Survey about?

The survey seeks to better understand the Snohomish business community by asking a mix of questions about your business structure, employment and hiring practices, customer base, satisfaction with City services, interest in business support programs, physical space needs, and more.

How will responses be used?

Survey data will be used as part of a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis of the Snohomish economy. The SWOT analysis, which is another collaboration between the City and UW, will help inform the goals and policies of the economic development element of the Comprehensive Plan, as well as other planning elements as appropriate.

Who should take the survey?

The intended audience for this survey is businesses within Snohomish city limits or the Snohomish urban growth area. The business owner or other primary decision-maker is encouraged to take the survey on behalf of their business.
