Road Construction

EXPECT ROAD/LANE CLOSURES AND TRAFFIC DELAYS.

The following projects are scheduled to be under construction during the summer of 2015:

  • Maple Avenue Overlay from Pine Avenue to North City Limits
  • Fairview Street Storm Improvements

The following is a status of the planned construction projects and others:

  1. Maple Avenue Overlay (Pine Avenue to North City Limits) – Project is being funded by the Transportation Benefit District and a grant that was awarded to the City by the Puget Sound Regional Council in November 2014.  Design to be completed in spring 2015 and construction to begin in the summer of 2015.  Project consists of asphalt overlay, channelization, traffic control, temporary lane closure, and ADA ramp improvements. 
  2. Fairview Street Storm Improvements – Fairview Street is an unimproved right of way on the west side of Maple Avenue, located approximately 1,600-feet north of 10th Street.  Design to be completed in spring 2015 and construction to be begin in the summer of 2015 (prior to the Maple Avenue Overlay).  Project consists of 12-inch storm pipe and catch basin installation, connection to Maple Avenue storm system, road restoration, traffic control, and temporary lane closure. 
  3. 30th Street Widening (at SR 9) – Design is funded by the  Transportation Benefit District and a grant that was awarded to the City by the Puget Sound Regional Council in September 2013.  Project consists of road widening (adding a combined through/right turn lane), traffic signal improvements, paving, sidewalk improvements, retaining wall, channelization, traffic control, temporary lane closure, drainage and ADA improvements.  Design to be completed in spring 2015.  City will be submitting grant applications for construction funding.
