Pilchuck Park Bank Stabilization
Project overview
The Pilchuck Park Bank Stabilization project will stabilize and install protection for a portion of the Pilchuck River bank that has eroded over time, causing a portion adjacent to the City's Pilchuck park to slough. Phase 1 work consisted of re-aligning the access road into the park away from the bank for public safety and to prevent further deterioration. The segment of bank to be restored extends from the Second Street bridge south 220 feet. Restoration work includes installation of root-wad logs, boulder ballast, grading fill, and native plantings to restore riparian functions and prevent further loss of riverbank habitat.

1. Will any fish be harmed during this work?
Protection of aquatic life will be paramount during this work. The project construction is scheduled during the fish window when the least number of fish are present, the river does reach the project side during low flows, barriers will be erected for routing fish around the project, and any remaining fish will be transported out of the work zone according to Department of Fish and Wildlife regulations.
2. Will the park be closed during this work?
Yes, Pilchuck Park will be closed for this work due to the close proximity of the park's access road to the project bank.
