Emergency and Disaster Preparedness
At the City of Snohomish, we are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents through comprehensive emergency and disaster preparedness programs. Our proactive approach is designed to minimize risks, enhance response capabilities, and ensure a swift recovery in the face of emergencies and disasters.
Programs and Initiatives
Community Education and Training
We offer a range of educational programs and training sessions to equip residents with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively to emergencies.
Join us for “When Disaster Strikes: Prepare, Act, Survive!” on October 5-6, 2024, in the Snohomish Carnegie Building. Presented by the Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management, this course is designed to teach and encourage community members to prepare for disasters, take preservation actions and perform, as appropriate, light search and rescue response to aid their family and other community members in the immediate aftermath of a natural disaster or human-made incident. The class is 12 hours in length (8 AM – 5 PM on Saturday, and 8 AM – Noon on Sunday) and is open to those ages 13+ with parent/guardian consent.
Emergency Notification
By partnering with Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management, Snohomish residents and businesses can sign-up for SnoCo Alerts and Reverse 911 to ensure they recieve timely alerts and information during emergencies.
Disaster Preparedness Planning
Through interlocal agreements with Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management and Snohomish Fire District 4, the City and Snohomish Police Department plan and prepare for a variety of hazards and crises, including natural disasters and manmade incidents. We also work closely with local organizations, schools, and businesses to develop and implement comprehensive disaster preparedness plans.
