Local Groups
Green Snohomish is a group dedicated to promoting, educating, and acting towards a more sustainable community. Activities include monthly environmental cleanups, educational events, restorations, and partnering with other regional organizations to further their goal of a cleaner, greener world.
The Snohomish Conservation District supports a wide variety of environmental projects - From yard care and raingardens, to horse keeping and agroforestry, they will help you get involved in the community and protect the natural environment.
Sound Salmon Solutions focuses on restoring habitat for our local salmon populations through restoration projects, education, and stewardship. During the summer, there is also a 4-day camp available for children to engage in the environment around them.
Educational Opportunities
The Washington State University Snohomish Extension by Willis Tucker Park offers a yearly sustainability program with a deep dive into waste management.
The Brightwater Treatment Plant's Educational Center offers a variety of environmental educational opportunities for K-12, families, and educators.
Other Volunteering and Sustainability Opportunities
While the City of Snohomish does not have its own rain garden program, it is just one of the many ways to help keep rainwater clean and prevent it from mixing with pollutants.
