In late 2022, our staff embarked on a comprehensive facilities assessment of all City buildings. Recognizing the diverse construction types and ages of these facilities, we determined that engaging a professional firm was essential for a thorough evaluation.
After issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) in early 2023, we interviewed three qualified firms. Following a rigorous selection process, MENG Analysis Group was chosen to lead this important endeavor.
With Council approval of their contract, MENG Analysis swiftly commenced field work. Throughout the summer and fall of 2023, they meticulously surveyed 21 buildings spanning a total of 69.4k square feet.
Key Findings:
- Total replacement value of all 21 facilities: $25.4 million
- Total observed deficiencies requiring action within 5 years: $37.6 million
- Total deficiencies requiring action (excluding Public Works Shop relocation): $11.4 million
- Long-term renewal needs (2029-2042): $12 million
- Opportunity costs identified: $18.1 million
We remain committed to ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our City facilities, and we thank you for your ongoing support.
